A new opportunity has become available for a Transport Manage to lead and develop a strong existing and successful Transport team within the food industry.  

Job Role
The Transport Manager ensures the logistics team is running smoothly and is expected to continuously evaluate the current processes and teams within their remit and implement the necessary changes to maximize efficiencies, improve customer satisfaction and engage our workforce.  

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be need to have experience in the key areas below:

  • Create and implement a metrics dashboard which will monitor the performance of the logistics functions with monthly reporting
  • Gather, collate and assess relevant data in order to identify potential areas of cost saving and
  • improved performance starting with route optimisation
  • Evaluate and implement an efficient structure within the Dispatch and Transport teams
  • You will be expected to provide them with the leadership required to develop and motivate them, ensuring they achieve high levels of performance
  • Set weekly KPI’s and SLA’s for each team within your remit with the assistance of Finance and HR, including reduce missed, inaccurate and late deliveries
  • Train, coach and develop the Dispatch Team Leader and Supervisors, implement PDP’s within the dispatch team and ensure objectives are met or exceeded
  • You will need to ensure that the team has the capability to provide cover in your absence without compromising on agreed service levels
  • Manage successful cross-functional relationships within the Logistics Department ensuring optimal teamwork and a reduction in staff attrition
  • Smooth and efficient day to day running of the transport & dispatch teams
  • Line Management of Dispatch Manager & Supervisors, as well as oversight of a team of dispatch and transport staff. This includes recruitment, training, development as well as retention and engagement
  • Liaising with Customers in the event of any failures on the part of your team
  • Route optimization
  • Achieving of agreed weekly SLA’s & KPI’s
  • Change Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Management of our internal transport fleet and relationship with 3rd party couriers

Personal Profile

  • Demonstratable experience in both logistics and people management
  • Keen commercial acumen and track record of success in identifying and achieving efficiencies
  • Experience in identifying talent and providing exceptional people management, including training and development
  • Strong IT skills
  • Full Driving License

Salary
£30k-£37k per annum
