RSE is looking for a Technical Author to join our team in the Cumbernauld, or Inverness or Leeds office.

Your role will involve:

  • To provide technical direction for the development, coordination, control and completion of documents defined by the business, ensuring consistency with the company strategy,
  • Authoring technical documentation for Product User manuals, O&M Manuals, H&S files, Asset scripts, Maintenance & Lubrication Schedules as well as updating and implementing changes to manuals and engineering documents (including: Water & Wastewater Treatment, Chemical Dosing & MCC)
  • Develop operational procedures for inclusion within O&M manuals,
  • Develop the production of technical capability profiles for our projects for corporate use,
  • Ensure documents conform to the Company, Customer and Client requirements and standards,
  • Support work winning and proposals activities with the production and submissions of technical documentation as required,
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness in the execution of tasks and work within allocated budgets,
  • Self-motivated and work to own initiative without detailed work direction. Be able to organise and prioritise workload effectively, work as a team and carry out instructions,
  • Clearly define project tasks associated with technical document submissions,
  • Plan and manage workload, determine the required resources to achieve the outcomes the business requires,
  • Manage the allocated resources to deliver in accordance with the business requirements and project deliverable deadlines,
  • Schedule the planning and implementation of project deliverables associated with the production of technical documents to meet project timelines,
  • Engage with project teams at an early stage to define the required deliverables,
  • Assemble and coordinate project staff to provide clarity on the information requirements and support the team in document collation,
  • Prepare and present reports defining project progress for technical documentation and evaluate/assess accordingly,
  • Carry out all other tasks as requested within the post holder’s appropriate skill set.

Essential:

  • Education to at least HNC level or equivalent in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical or Process or Chemical), aligned to our core business.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • High competency in the use of Microsoft Products, Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work to deadlines to produce work to a high standard.

Desirable:

  • Experience of writing manuals for the Water Industry
  • Previous experience within a similar role, preferably within the Water Industry.
  • Good understanding of engineering terms.
  • CSCS
  • National Water Hygiene
