We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Paediatric Orthotist to join our team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. (GOSH)

Job Summary:

The role holder has responsibility assessing and treating a complex range of patients, based on current best practice on site in GOSH.

The post can be full time or part time, and will need to be discussed at interview.

Requires specific experience in:

  • Custom neuromuscular scoliosis bracing
  • Custom idiopathic scoliosis bracing
  • Advance lower limb orthotics related to orthopaedic and congenital presentations

Ideally to also have experience working with SDR patients, fitting of Lycra garments, service development and basic workshop skills.

We expect the role holder to:

  • Demonstrate experienced clinical practice in paediatrics and working as part of MDT clinical team.
  • Demonstrate a high clinical competency and experience in custom scoliosis bracing
  • Work as part of an integrated team in order to achieve an efficient clinical service and drive service improvements
  • Deliver against clinical performance KPI’s, clinical standards and prescriptive practices
  • Demonstrate Opcare’s key behaviours and values
  • Support, develop and mentor junior team members and graduates
  • Reporting into Clinical Lead / Regional Operational Clinical Lead. (RCOL)

Great Ormond Street Hospital. 60 Great Ormond Street, WC1N 3HR

(No car parking available, closest tube Russell Square or Holborn, within 20 minutes walk of Euston, Kings Cross and Waterloo, with secure facilities to store bicycles)

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

  • Fulfil a clinical role, including all elements of standard clinical practice, including but not exclusive to:

Assesses, cast, fit and supply orthotics

Contemporaneous note completion

Practice within current base of clinical evidence

To practice within the code of ethics and guidelines of the HCPC.

Maintain clinical confidentiality

Mandatory training

  • Work closely with admin staff, Clinical Lead and RCOL to deliver a smooth and efficient service
  • Co-ordinate and undertake clinical audits and R&D work with the clinical team
  • Regularly take part in clinical policies and procedure reviews, carry out regular clinical audits working with the Clinical Lead and RCOL to drive service improvements.
  • Communication with central manufacturing facilities to ensure bespoke products are manufactured correctly and in a timely manner.

Skills & Personal Attributes:

  • Proven practical experience working successfully at a senior level as an Orthotist
  • Proven experience working within high performing teams
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships internally and externally
  • Ambition and drive to help improve the services
  • Sound judgement and the ability to make sound appropriate decisions quickly and effectively in complex situations
  • Self-motivated and uses initiative, seeking advice when required
  • Able to prioritise, plan and organise efficiently, and work with multiple conflicting priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Sound numeracy and literacy skills

Qualifications:

HCPC certified Prosthetist/Orthotist

BSc Prosthetics & Orthotics, or HND Prosthetics & Orthotics
