Overview

This School is a selective day and boarding school for boys aged 13 to 18 and girls aged 16 to 18.
From January 2022, they are seeking to appoint a dedicated, caring and innovative nurse to lead their healthcareteam and to fulfil their goal of offering sectorleading medical provision.
The successful candidate will work alongside and manage one other registered nurse and a medical administrator.
The wider team includes a school doctor GP, physiotherapist and a team of house matrons.
The School Nursing Sister will report in to the Under Master, who has oversight of the School’s health and wellbeing provision in its entirety.
The post will be termtime only but will require additional hours to be worked outside of termtime.
The Role
Provide a clinically effective, highquality service of nursing care, emergency care and first aid for all pupils, staff and visitors in the event of their being taken ill or having an accident on site.
Lead the smooth running of the School Surgery.
Ensure compliance with School policies and adherence to patient confidentialityMaintain and develop the philosophy of care within the Surgery in line with the School’s ethos.
Draft, develop, review and update relevant policies and procedures.
Managerial
Work closely with senior managers to ensure best practice guidelines are adhered to in relation to nursing and medical care throughout the School.
Ensure adherence to relevant professional codes of conduct.
Keep uptodate with relevant professional developments and ensure information is disseminated to the nursing team.
Develop and maintain systems and processes to ensure a high quality of nursing and medical care.
Ensurethat the Surgery adhere to codes of confidentialityMaintain accurate, secure and appropriately confidential medical records and records of all consultations.
Process medical records received from parents.
Archive medical records in line with the School’s policy.
You will Be a currently registered nurse, with extensive nursing experience, working in a hospital A&E department or minor injuries unit, ideally, school, or GP practice or similar.
Hold a current first aid certificate HSE recognised.
Have a strong understanding of common mental health conditions, particularly those regularly seen in adolescents and children, with the ability to recognise and support as appropriate.
Have the ability to build strong working relationships at a variety of levels.
Be a confident, assured communicator at all levels.

Hours of Work
This is a termtime only role, with some holiday working required.
Normal working pattern during termtime

30am to 5.
30pm, Monday to Friday, with half an hour’s break for lunch.
Some Saturdays will need to be worked on rotation c.
once per month during termtime.
Salary
£40,00045,000 per annum, dependent on candidate experience and skill set.
