This is a new opportunity that encompasses operational, supplier, central function, people and customer / sales responsibilities. This pivotal role will engage with tool hire in the other brands (Travis Perkins, how we best use the Group Hub). You will partner with The Head of Tool Hire with a direct reporting line to the Regional Director for London & South East. This position will be Regionally based across London & SE with our Regional Office based in Kings Cross.
Our working hours also offer a great work life balance – you will work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday with regular travel to our Tool Hire hub in Barking. Most of our customers choose to enjoy their weekends and bank holidays which means you can too!

What will I be doing?
No one day is the same as the next in BSS, but here are a few pointers:
- Regularly review utilisation and servicing numbers with branches to ensure stock profiles are correct and servicing is maintained to expected levels.
- A point of escalation when branches are struggling to find stock OR other branches are not releasing.
- Work with THM’s to put together a best practice guide for tool hire in the region.
- Encouraging collaboration between THM’s to manage workload between them.
- Work with branches to build confidence when talking about hire and take away the fear factor.
- Supporting non-workshop branch Hire colleagues (Champion / Supervisor) with process and compliance.
- Provide product training & demos for branch colleagues.
- Establish a plan for pricing to be set to accounts to ensure consistency for our customers and minimise invoice queries.
- Engage with Key Accounts for the region.
- Give the THM’s a structure for escalation with customer complaints / negotiating projects etc.
- Drive the contact strategy for THMs in the region, focusing primarily on our key accounts.
- Utilise tool hire dashboard to find each branch’s ‘quick wins’ and support the approach to these customers immediately to try to get us back on track.
- Supporting, managing & coaching THMs with their customer contact strategy
- Be pivotal in the implementation and execution of the region’s strategic plan.
What are we looking for?
- The ideal applicant should be a confident and well organised individual with great communication skills to maximise our opportunities.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to interpret information will also be key along with previous multi-site experience working within a matrix business environment.
- Strong stakeholder management experience.
- Strong leadership skills, Remote management of teams is important as well as stakeholder management experience.
- Strong presentation skills.
- You will have delivered a similar role in a previous business (this can be in an ajasant/out of sector business).
