Enable Futures are operating as an employment business on behalf of its client and recruiting for a permanent PHP Developer joining a rapidly growing SAAS provider. Working with a powerful, easy-to-use system that allows customers to manage their staff, look after their service users and keep on top of their finances! They have thousands of customers using their software and are now looking for talented individuals to join their team and help them maintain, develop and improve their software! 

The location of the office is in Bristol, UK with three working options (Fully Remote) or (Hybrid) or (Office) working for you to choose from! If you would like to work fully remote you can be based anywhere in the UK. If you would prefer to hybrid or office work, then you would need to be able to commute into Bristol. 

A PHP Developer at is a consummate professional and produces exemplary software solutions. You will write code to the highest standard and employ a sense of craftsmanship to your work. You will have an advanced knowledge of software design principles and can demonstrate these practically when engineering solutions. You will have an applied knowledge of SOLID principles and write Clean Code. You will have a fundamental or advanced knowledge of SQL and relational databases. You will know how to debug complex scenarios that include multiple architectural elements. You will have an understanding of AWS architecture and command line tools. You will be an active member of all teams you work with and have excellent communication skills. You should at all times be mindful of our Information Security obligations and commitments, and ensure that others are aware of them also.

Outstanding Package:

  • The working hours are 9.00 – 17.30 Monday to Friday. 
  • The annual starting salary is £45,000 – £65,000 PA depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Write ‘clean’, well-commented code that is fit for purpose and easy for other team members to maintain.
  2. Debug reported issues quickly and effectively, solving the problem and suggesting opportunities for improvements.
  3. Write unit and functional tests that demonstrate fitness-for-purpose and prevent regression.
  4. Participate in Scrum planning sessions, daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives. Actively seek to learn from other team members.
  5. Liaise with Technical Lead, Product Team and QA Team to ascertain requirements/problems.
  6. Use software tools carefully and effectively, including version control and ticketing systems.
  7. Follow industry best-practices, especially with regards to testing and secure programming principles.
  8. Ask questions about specs, interrogate UIs and explore UX requirements before starting to code.
  9. Fully uphold the company’s Information Security Policy, and treat customer data with the greatest care and respect. Flag any and all security concerns immediately.
  10. Work to meet sprint goals, and flag up where goals cannot be met, including the reason why.

Experience, attributes & skills sought:

  • Educated to A-Level standard, or with equivalent demonstrable experience. Must have GCSEs with grades A*-B.
  • At least one years’ relevant commercial work experience.
  • Methodical, focussed, patient, product-focussed code-lover with a perfectionist streak.
  • PHP 7/8, Symfony 5, SOLID, MySQL, AWS, Git.
  • Relevant Further or Higher Education qualification, or evidence of relevant professional training courses – Desirable. 
  • Experience in a commercial software environment, especially one producing a SAAS in an agile environment – Desirable. 
  • SNS, SQS, JavaScript, RESTFul APIs, REACT – Desirable.
