Are you looking to start a career in payroll? This is fantastic opportunity with a progressive training package. The Payroll and Pensions team is responsible for the provision of a timely and accurate payroll service to NHS Clients. Liaise directly with employees, HR and Finance to resolve queries and provide information in relation to pay and pensions. Supporting Clients to achieve their strategic objectives, to manage organisational change and achieve automation. Provide subject matter experts and advice on best practice.

We would consider applications from Southampton, Leeds, Salford, Sheffield and Bristol areas but there is an expectation to attend the office 2 days per week. We are very flexible on working arrangemements so if you want to work on a full-time or part-time basis that’s not an issue!

What you will be doing:

  • A great opportunity to start your career in payroll.
  • When you join us (depending on your experience) you’ll start on our training program learning the basics of payroll, helping to ensure smooth processes for set up of starters and leavers within our NHS clients.
  • As you progress with us, we’ll support you in learning more about the statutory requirements in payroll and delivering on these such as maternity and shared parental leave.
  • Once you’re fully trained, you’ll be able to deliver processing of end-to-end payrolls alongside your team, handling customer queries and helping to support statutory processes at key times of year such as junior doctor rotations.
  • You’ll become an expert in NHS payroll and throughout your training journey with us will be taught everything you need to know around basic statutory requirements and handling our clients’ data securely.
  • You’ll even have the opportunity to receive funding to complete a payroll qualification.
  • Most of all, each and every day in your role you’ll be making a difference to our NHS and allowing them to focus on frontline care.

What you will bring:

  • Good standard of Education in English and Mathematics, preferably with GCSE level A-C, or experience in an office/payroll/finance environment
  • Numerate and methodical
  • Good pc skills, using Microsoft word, Excel and the ability to input from basic data source and produce basic spreadsheets
  • The ability to prioritise
  • Previous experience of working in a customer service environment
  • Experience with handling telephone calls and emails

It would be great if you had:

  • Basic understanding of Payroll processes and deadlines
  • NVQ 2 qualification in Payroll
  • Previous Call Centre experience or working in a fast-paced work environment

Salary: £19,357 (plus an additional £580 if flexi benefit taken as a cash option)
Benefits: 25 days annual leave with the option to buy additional days, 4 x death in service benefit, pension, and generous flexible benefits fund 3% (can be taken as a cash option), annual bonus of up to £500.
