Overview
We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Paralegal to provide oral and written legal advice to assist the Housing Team within one of our local government clients based in Oldham.
The Paralegal will provide oral and written legal advice in relation to procedural issues, policy matters, statutory duties/powers and in individual cases, on matters relating to housing with particular emphasis on disrepair and rent possessions.
They will undertake the conduct of litigation in the civil courts, connected with housing with a particular emphasis on disrepair and rent possessions, at the direction of the Senior Lawyer (Housing and General Litigation) on behalf of the client.
Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:
- Qualification at CILex Level 3, law degree or equivalent
- Knowledge and experience of criminal and civil litigation and of the processes followed by courts and tribunals
- Ability to assimilate information from various sources and provide advice and/or guidance
- Ability to organise and prioritise workloads to meet deadlines
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, display initiative and to take responsibility for decision making
