BBS Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Nursery Manager in a temp position for our client based in Bristol. The successful candidate should be a proactive and hardworking individual with prior experience within a role.

Knowledge, skills & experience as a Nursery Manager:

•Qualification in Early Years and Child Development to at least Level 6 or above, as prescribed in the EYFS regulatory framework.

•Practical experience of working within Early Years and thorough understanding of the principles of the Early Years services available, legal responsibilities, work practices and processes.

•Experience of managing others’ work and supporting their professional development.

•Ability to analyse areas of work and make decisions to improve them.

•Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding protocols and the threshold levels for service users. Ability to investigate and follow up on potential issues.

•Ability to work with children and families with a diverse range of backgrounds and abilities.

•Ability to engage with service users and partner agencies within the relevant codes of practice values (dignity, respect etc).

•Ability to manage/organise own work and that of others to meet agreed deadlines.

Typical activities as a Nursery Manager:

•To ensure the nursery proactively complies with the NSSCB interagency working guidelines, and all statutory requirements to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

•Take a lead role in preparing publicity materials and marketing information to develop and maintain the nursery position within the community within an overall service plan in partnership with relevant NSC departments.

•Undertake the supervision, management, recruitment and development of others to improve service standards and achieve service delivery within the regulatory framework.

•Prepare regular management information for the various management groups and boards.

•Work in partnership with service users and other agencies to develop and implement multi agency services and initiatives. Establish and maintain appropriate links between service users and other professionals to encourage a clear understanding of each other’s priorities and ways of working.

•Communicate effectively with multi agency partners, colleagues and service users, both verbally and in writing through the appropriate use of case notes and other record keeping within information sharing protocols and record keeping policies.

•Planning and Organising – Priorities work, organising work for self and others to agreed deadlines

•Business Awareness – Understands the contribution the role makes to the service and organisation as a whole and recognises how the actions of others impact on own role.

•Leadership Standards – demonstrates the behaviours set out in the council’s leadership standards, and the EYFS and Ofsted Welfare Requirements.
