Overview

We are currently looking for a Maintenance Assistant / Handyperson to join our professional and friendly team at the Union Jack Club.

Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, you will be helping to ensure high standards of maintenance throughout the Union Jack Club.

You will be responsible for carrying out painting and general maintenance duties around the Club, to include duty maintenance tasks dealing with any defects from re-tuning a TV, repairing doors, replacing lights, replacing carpet tiles, working in plant rooms to moving beds and furniture.

Specifically, you will be expected to:

· Use correct methods when carrying out your trade (plumbing, electric, painting and decorating, carpentry)

· Take turns on the Duty Engineers Roster

· Maintain all equipment, tools and plant in a safe and good condition

· Undertake emergency and planned maintenance and repairs with capability; respond effectively and maintain a log of all works

· Undertake routine inspections of the Club including daily maintenance checks

Our ideal candidate:

· Good communications skills and a good level of spoken English

· Ability to use own initiative and work in a team environment are essential for this role.

· Flexible to work on a rota basis and adaptable to cover shifts whenever possible, including weekends.

· Ability to work under pressure

Its founder was Ethel McCaul, a Royal Red Cross nurse and her vision remains our primary purpose today: to provide serving and former non-commissioned members of the Armed Forces and their families with a comfortable and friendly base for their visits to London with over 20 million guests since its doors opened.
