Licensed Animal Technician
LOCATION: Manchester SALARY: £23,000 – £28,000 REF: ALS 2588
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a motivated and pro-active Licensed Animal Technician. The successful candidate will be joining a team who are dedicated in working towards new advances in research and contributing to in vivo studies.
The ideal candidate will be conducting regulated drugs administering and taking blood samples while work closely with researcher on projects to ensure models are viable. You will receive unique opportunities to develop your technical skills in all areas.
Basic Requirements:
* Holder of Home Office License PIL A-B
* Experience of working with laboratory rodents
* Competent in a range of licensed techniques
* Thorough understanding of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986
* Ability to carry out routine tasks and procedures under minimum supervision
* Passion for animal welfare
* Desire to learn new techniques
* Flexible approach to work and supporting additional hours where required
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Providing a high level of animal care at all times, ensuring that the animal’s welfare is a priority throughout the process.
* Administering drugs (through a variety of routes) and blood sampling with due care and attention.
* Maintaining highly accurate records at all times, escalating any problems to the appropriate team member.
* Work closely with Scientists and Managers on projects to ensure models are viable.
Adhere to all health and safety protocols appropriately and to report any quality issues immediately.
* Any other duties deemed reasonable from supervisor
* Work within defined Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs)
* Contribute to the weekend and out of hours work on a rota basis.
