Kickstart Apprentice rate As a Kickstart apprentice you will have theopportuniy to learn from experienced colleagues and become a valued part of ourteam, developing the skills required to become a school TeachingAssistant.
You will work under instruction and guidance from theAssistant Headteacher/teaching staff and undertake learning and pastoralsupport for pupils enabling them to access learning.
You will also assistthe teacher in managing pupil behaviour and the daily routines of theclassroom.
To apply for this apprentice position you must be aged between 18and 24 and be in receipt of universal credit.
You will need to apply via yourwork coach who will give you a reference number to quote in theapplication.
Main Duties
Promote pupils’ development in a safe, secureenvironment Have regard for the safety and wellbeing of thepupil Encourage pupils to interact with others andengage in teacher led learning Help children who need extra support to completetasks, including those with special educational needs anddisabilities Prepare the classroom for lessons, showing goodorganisation, ensuring the classroom remains tidy and purposeful Support the teacher in managing pupilbehaviour Take part in training, meetings and reviews asappropriate Support the development of displays of pupils’learning to reflect their achievement Establish excellent working relationships withpupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations Provide consistent support to all pupils,responding appropriately to individual pupil needs Promote inclusion and access for allpupils Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progressand achievement under the guidance and direction of theteacher Assist with supervision of pupils duringbreaktimes Assist with pupil’s personal needs includingtoileting, hygiene, dressing and eating You will be part of a year group team and will besupported by a class teacher and a qualified TeachingAssistant.
You will have a named mentor who will be part of theschool’s leadership team.
Support will be provided through daily coaching andweekly meetings.
As part of the scheme you will undertake aqualification with Learn Direct to gain a Level 2 NVQ in Supporting Teachingand Learning.
The school will provide appropriate ICT access andsupport to complete this qualification.
This will require part time studyoutside of core working hours.
Additional appropriate training to developthe your skills will be sourced and funded by the school on thesame basis as opportunities provided to the school’s qualifiedTeaching Assistants.
Additionally you will be mentored in the creationof a CV and completing job applications.
Inhouse practical training willensure you are able to build a portfolio to evidencethe relevant work experience gained to support any TeachingAssistant applications you may make.
