Overview

HR Payroll Service Centre Team Leader required on a temporary basis for a leading charity based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. This role is working 35 hours per week and offers a hybrid model and working from the Leeds office one day per week.

Main Responsibilities:   

  • Supports the monthly payroll cycle ensuring all aspects are managed effectively and efficiently whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy.
  • Deals with queries and calculations to ensure pay is correct. Inc tax and NI, pensions and pension auto enrolment, gross and net pay, how to calculate pay and how to respond to pay queries.
  • Works with the payroll provider to ensure timescales are met and the relationship is managed.
  • Manages the regular meetings eg: monthly and quarterly meetings.
  • Manages the log of improvements to aid with continuous improvement.
  • Manages the interface with the payroll provider ensuring data is correct as well as looking for improvements to the data and timescales.
  • Manages pensions administration, providing monthly reports to Finance and company pensions provider ensuring accuracy of contributions paid, making timely corrections where inaccuracies arise. Responsible for administering auto-enrolment and re-enrolment ensuring the organisation is compliant with the latest pensions legislation.
  • Responsible for integrity of data held on HR systems which feeds into pay.
  • Monitors compliance with People Operations Team standards, SLAs and quality assurance processes.
  • Advises Team Leaders and/or Head of People Operations of results and recommends changes and ensures manuals/procedures are updated as required.
  • Responsible for the effective performance and development of the payroll system and processes to support effective payroll processing.
  • Ensures that payroll system is optimised, making recommendations to exploit and enhance functionality.
  • Is the first point of contact for all Payroll related systems issues and takes a pro-active approach to resolution.
  • Develops and implements strategies for launching and communicating new payroll related systems and projects to the organisation.
  • Is responsible for maintaining payroll technical procedures and training material working closely with the People Operations Team Leaders to ensure the team is appropriately skilled.
  • Takes a coaching approach to ensure knowledge share across the team.
  • Supports in developing a culture of continuous improvement to develop effective and innovative payroll systems and deliver efficiencies through streamlining. Provides data and information related to payroll for the organisation, linking in with the Finance team.
