Job Title: Head of Online Merchandising

Reports To: E-Commerce Director

Department: E-Commerce

Location: Head Office, Cottons Centre, London Bridge

Direct Reports: 2 Senior Merchandisers (team of 5) and an Operations Manager (team of 3)

Role Summary:

At Charles Tyrwhitt our purpose is to “Make it easy for men to dress well”. The primary purpose of the Head of Online Merchandising is to oversee, grow and strengthen the brand online and have responsibility for the commercial performance of Charles Tyrwhitt’s websites globally.

You will be responsible for all aspects of how we present and sell online. The role requires balancing day to day trading, driven by a strong commercial and analytic skill set, whilst also shaping, developing, and delivering wider E-Commerce strategic developments.

The platform trades across UK, US, German, Australian and RoW sites with additional complexity in the acquisition and promotional pricing within countries. As such experience of International Trading would be desirable.

You will lead a team of merchandisers, and have the remit to define and create regional and category responsibilities that ensure that the team collaborates effectively with all internal stakeholders such as Buying/Merchandising, Marketing, Creative/Design and IT development to facilitate day-to-day trade and strategic initiatives.

As a key leader within E-Commerce you will need to lead and deliver on a range of strategic initiatives, building business cases and managing delivery through teams and third parties.

Key Responsibilities:

* Be held accountable for the sales performance versus budget and site KPIs globally for Charles Tyrwhitt online

* Overall responsibility for the presentation of all product categories across our websites

* Measure and report on performance of trade, tracking KPIs and providing recommendations to drive performance.

* Lead, inspire and grow a team of digital merchandisers to optimise user experience and trading performance. Managing performance, deadlines and quality throughout the team providing regular and appropriate recognition and feedback.

* Drive the trading agenda for ecommerce across all areas of the business, and owning and managing internal stakeholders within Marketing (including Digital), Buying and Merchandising, Creative/Design teams (Copy, Imagery and editorial content)

* Ensuring that E-Commerce content, product, promotional messaging is delivered consistently in-line with agreed Critical Path and trading plans

* Take an active lead in weekly trading meetings and present E-Commerce performance in a clear and concise manner that drives commercial action.

* Managing a dynamic relationship with the Director of eCommerce that challenges where required and facilitates best practice communication and planning across all internally owned E-Comm sites.

* Take a proactive role in working with the Global Creative team to shape content requirements ensuring copy and content are available on time, meet requirements and optimised for SEO purposes to support launch and on-going traffic

* Ensure segmentation, personalisation and relevancy targeting opportunities are used to drive enhanced sales

* Stay abreast of best practice and technologies that can drive customer engagement and conversion

* Foster a continual improvement mentality to deliver efficiency and process improvement solutions

Person Specification:

Experience Required

* Experience in managing/coordinating an online merchandising team

* Background/experience working in an apparel brand or managing the menswear category within a multi category retailer is preferable.

* Ability to be both hands on and strategic and step between these modes of operation as needed.

* SalesForce commerce cloud experience highly desirable.

* Knowledge of the wider digital eco-system used to support core E-Commerce platforms (for example analytics and Search and Merchandising tools, & digital marketing).

* Managing delivery across multiple International Sites, with complex, customer-based pricing models.

* Commercial background with good understanding of online merchandising and selling

* Expert knowledge of onsite optimisation techniques

* Strong knowledge of SEO practices and principles, with and demonstrable ability to maintain and improve performance in partnership with agencies

* Managing vendors and partners to deliver to agreed service levels

Technical Skills

* Knowledge of Salesforce Commerce Cloud (Demandware) or similar eCommerce platform would be beneficial

* Understanding of product catalogue data and hierarchy would be beneficial

* Familiarity with Adobe Analytics and/or Google Analytics is key, and we expect clear reporting and action based upon observed responses
