Overview

We are urgently seeking an experienced and skilled Financial Assessment Officer to provide an assessment, information and advice service to customers, service users and stakeholders for our local government client based in Manchester M15.

The Financial Assessment Officer will determine the requirements and needs of service users in accordance with relevant legislation, policy and procedures, and provide advice on the most appropriate course of action. They will respond to all queries from a wide range of people, including both internal and external customers, in an efficient and courteous manner, using initiative and creative skills to resolve problems.

They will provide an accurate, efficient and prompt assessment service where appropriate, using a range of bespoke ICT systems to carry out the role; ensure that any errors or fraudulent activity are detected and prevented, and appropriate action taken.

Some duties may include assisting the Contact Centre dealing with customer enquiries.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate the following:

  • Previous experience of providing customer services, assessing individual cases and issue resolution decision making
  • Preferably some experience of working within a financial assessment environment
  • Ability to absorb, understand and quickly assimilate moderately complex information and concepts and compare information from a number of different sources.
  • Skills to use ICT systems to obtain and analyse data and present it effectively through a variety of ICT channels.
  • Ability to make effective decisions on a day-to-day basis, taking ownership of decisions, demonstrating sound judgement in escalating issues where necessary.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced environment

There is the potential to be able to work from home once training has been completed.
