Job Description
Reporting to the VP Data, and operating within the Central Data Function, the Data Science Director will help build Sage’s future. Leading the Data Science centre of excellence and managing Data Science and Machine Learning teams across different facets of the organisation. This is a leadership role sat at the leader level of the Data Discipline helping to shape the vision, strategy and future of organisations across the company. Working at multiple levels within the company, the Data Science director is responsible for the future direction of this important data area, building high performance teams across Data Science, Machine Learning and Data Engineering. You will grow and mentor your team, providing the support needed to generate high quality insight. You will lead a culture of high quality, and proactive analysis that not only supports current goals but paves the way for the future.
Key Responsibilities
• Responsible for helping the organisation leverage data spanning all varieties, volumes, and timeliness through a team of Data Engineers, ML Engineers and Data Scientists.
• Focused on providing direction and insight from data for management to make informed decisions and develop new data science capabilities for the business.
• Build, coach, and mentor the team and broader Data Science community, developing career plans for the team, maturing the job family, and defining career paths.
• Setup and develop the COE for Data Science and ML/Data Engineering, defining the visions and strategies for Data Science and its use across the global business and all organisational boundaries, including establishing operational excellence. Supporting the creation and implementation of a data experiment culture.
• Responsible for managing vendors, hiring, and retaining talent and fostering a team environment to promotes innovation, success, and excellence.
• Work closely with the Director – Analytics & BI and IT Delivery teams to ensure that the right data is available and as the business needs it.
