PreConstruction Design ManagerISG are currently searching for a design manager to be based out of our Bristol team and working on a variety of projects all at Preconstruction stage.
This is an excellent opportunity and working in a very busy team, with little travel required.
This will be working within our retail business unit focusing on Industrial and Logistics commercial new build projects and supermarket retail.
We require a design manager to plan and manage the development and coordination of project designs in the preconstruction phase, to provide a proactive robust design service through to successful completion in line with Company and customer expectations and contractual obligations.
What will you be doing?You’ll be part of a large winning work team involved in the preconstruction stage of a variety of projects to support you building your career.
Provide advice to the tender team to fill any scope gaps that exist in tender information.
Investigate alternative methods of construction, looking at ways we can do things differently to provide improvement on cost, time or quality.
Liaise with consultants, supply chain and the team as appropriate.
Review technical aspects of supply chain quotes and advise the team on compliance, scope gaps, alternatives and value engineering opportunities.
Provide written work for inclusion in tender submissions, presentations and the like.
Review the design resource and plan for workload, managing the team workload.
Liaise with internal/ external resource as appropriate.
Develop the design function to consistently improve and be better than any competition.
To initiate innovation & best practice within ISG at every opportunity.
To develop a relationship with the client and project management team.
Confidently critique tender documentation, offering alternative solutions that are appealing to the client/consultant whilst also identifying risksPreparing and analysing the design programme in conjunction with project manager, consultants and CDP contractors.
