Salary: £20,363 – £21,603 actual per annum (depending on skills and experience)
Working Hours: 35 hours per week

About the role

We have developed an exciting and innovative new service delivery model ‘Dementia Connect’ which has 4 main elements:

  • A specialist telephone-based information and navigation service
  • A face-to-face service offering an increased level of support for more complex cases
  • Self-management – our online community (Dementia Talking Point) and online service directory is available at all times
  • Keeping in Touch Calls – a way of keeping in contact with service users as their journey with dementia progresses
  • As an Adviser working on our Welsh language telephone-based service, you will be the first point of telephone or written contact for people affected by dementia who need support from Alzheimer’s Society Cymru, assessing their needs and identifying desired outcomes.

This role will provide a highly responsive, individualised and empathic information, advice, support and signposting/referral service to people affected by dementia and memory loss symptoms and their immediate carers, families and friends. This will be delivered mainly over the telephone, but there will also be face to face in the community as required. To deliver this service in both Welsh and English.

You will have knowledge of working alongside volunteers and have an understanding of the valuable contribution volunteers bring to services whilst championing their inclusion in all that we deliver

About you

We are looking for someone who is fluent in both Welsh and English, possesses an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in a health and social care related subject has an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers and has direct experience of working in a telephone and e-mail based service with active listening and questioning skills.
