HILS are looking for a Community Dietitian who will be part of the Nutrition & Wellbeing Team at HILS. The post holder will provide a community-based dietetics service to clients receiving HILS’ meals on wheels service and undertake Dietetic screenings as part of the Nutrition Awareness Team’s work in Care homes across the Herts Valleys area. This role will cover HILS’ meals on wheels clients across all of Hertfordshire and care homes in the Herts Valleys area.

The service aims to identify and address the causes of malnutrition amongst HILS’ clients, who are mainly frail, elderly, and community-based. The post holder will complete in-person home visits and telephone reviews for clients to perform a Nutrition & Wellbeing screening, involving completing a MUST assessment, as well as asking relevant lifestyle and health questions. The post holder will then educate the client about their malnutrition status, provide advice and guidance to the client and their next of kin, and set up nutritional interventions to improve their status (such as bespoke menus, food fortification advice, free additional snacks, etc.), including dietetic care plans and treatment goals.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle Ability to understand written and oral English Satisfactory DBS check The right to work in the UK Degree in Dietetics Registered Dietitian (HCPC & BDA) Good office, admin and IT skills including good telephone manner and intermediate level excel Good knowledge of the specifics of good nutrition for older people Experience of health promotional activities Knowledge of research appraisal and analysis and interpretation of statistics Confident in training small groups and presenting to a variety of audiences.
