Would you like to be part of a Brand New Bespoke Supported Living Service? Are you BSL Level 2 Trained or a Native British Sign Language user? We are looking for an experienced Full Time BSL Level 2 trained support worker to join us in the opening of a new Supported Living Service in Hyde. This service will be easily accessible via all transport links. Hyde is served by railway stations and is close to the M67 motorway. Hyde also has a bus station with bus services into Manchester and other surrounding areas.
We will be supporting individuals requiring various levels of support. These individuals may have mental health issues, sensory impairments, complex care needs, forensic backgrounds, learning difficulties and may also display challenging behaviour. We are providing individuals with practical and emotional care, enabling them to have fulfilled lives, gain further independence and achieve positive outcomes. You will need to have proven experience of working in a similar environment. You will also need to be flexible as you are required to work shifts including bank holidays & weekends.
What will you be doing?
• Helping to implement daily support plans, including helping with preparation of meals, cleaning, laundry duties and accompanying individuals to leisure activities and social events in the community
• To communicate with our services users, their families and any other related support groups/organisations
• You will need to maintain accurate notes and records and may have to assist with medication
• Work as part of a team, ensuring we always supply the highest level of care
Sounds great, what do we need from you?
The successful candidate for this role will have:
• NVQ 2/3 in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards
• British Sign Language Level 2+ trained or a Native British Sign Language User
•Experience in supporting Deaf Adults with LD / MH needs (desirable)
•The ability to keep calm under pressure
•Confidence to work alone and as part of a team
•Excellent communication skills
•The passion to work with vulnerable Adults
•The desire and commitment to achieve high standards of safeguarding
Successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure prior to commencement of employment, the disclosure expense will be met by the employer.
COVID – This role and the service users we support requires you to confirm you have been/will be double vaccinated against Covid 19 by the 1st April 2022. We are are required to ask for evidence of this.
