Role Title: Austic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Mentor

Location: All sites

Contract Type: Permanent – Full Time

Salary scale: £21,317 – £21.820 based on a salary assessment

Here at Coleg Cambria we are looking for a Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Mentor to join our Additional Learning Needs team at our Deeside site.

Overview of Role

The ASD Mentor will be responsible for providing support to students with ASD and social communication difficulties helping them to overcome barriers in order to achieve their full potential within education.

As an ASD Mentor at Coleg Cambria you will be expected to help to build learner confidence and motivate them to engage in their timetabled sessions as well as undertaking independent study where required.

Essential Requirements

A sound and proven knowledge of Autisic Spectrum Disorder and it can impact academic performance

Proven previous experience support learners with Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Awareness and understanding of the stigma and discrimination that surrounds people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder

It is essential that you have excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt your communication style when required.

Self awareness and the ability to recognise your own limitations and the confidence to refer to other services and support when necessary
