We are looking to recruit a highly motivated candidate with an interest in community psychology and culturally sensitive practice to an Assistant Psychologist post in an innovative team of psychologists and peer support workers within Tower Hamlets Adult Mental health Psychology Service. The post holder must be proficient in either Bengali/Sylheti or Somali which are the commonly spoken local languages in the Borough.

The post holder will assist with culturally adapted psychological interventions, working with individuals and groups. They will also contribute to the development of partnership working with local community groups to promote social connections, community engagement and participation. The post holder will contribute to training, service development, audit and research.

The post is suitable for an individual who is keen to embrace the privileges of working in a diverse borough and a commitment to working with people with complex mental health difficulties and from a range of religious, cultural and ethnic backgrounds as well as working in partnership with staff teams and community organisations to deliver psychologically informed care.

Contribute to the development of partnership working with local community groups to promote social connections, community engagement and participation under the supervision of senior psychologist.

Work alongside Psychologists and Peer support workers in the field of Community psychology.

Support with the development of culturally sensitive, co-produced services with people with lived experience and local voluntary organisations.

Undertake clinically supervised and culturally adapted psychological assessment and treatment with clients on a one-to-one basis, and in group and family treatments within the context of the service. Where appropriate services to be delivered in local language.

Provide specialist advice, within competence, concerning the psychological assessment and treatment of service users and their carers/supporters of the services/teams worked with.

Support the psychological work of graduate psychologists and other workers within the service through delivery of teaching, training, and advice about specific psychological interventions and assessments.

Collate information across the service relating to referrals, allocations, packages of care offered and maintain databases relating to client care.

Undertake clinical audit and research activities as required, under the guidance of senior staff.
