Title: Assay Development Team Leader

Location: Greater Manchester, North West

Salary: Competitive

Charlton Morris are currently working with a leading diagnostics department based in the heart of the North West, who are currently looking for an Assay Development Team Leader.

As an Assay Development Team Leader you’ll be responsible for leading assay design and development, including system integration of in vitro diagnostic products. You’ll be an SME of assay development/design, investing time into junior team members to support them. You will be supporting with training and resource planning/management set out by the R&D department. You shall be working with your team to ensure that they achieve set KPI’s and that all work is executed to a high quality and within a timely manner. As this role is a key part of the company’s growth strategy, you’ll also be involved in driving product development strategies.

Key Responsibilities.

* Team leadership coaching and mentoring your team, as well as identifying and building growth/training plans for them.

* Own and optimise System Integration processes, taking the lead on system integration activities when products involve two or more interacting components, ensuring readiness for Design Transfer and Performance Evaluation at a system level

* Deliver optimised assays and workflows that are ready for successful Design Transfer and Performance Evaluation.

* Plan new studies and provide updates on existing workpackages and other activities.

* Perform RCA analysis for the resolution of technical issues within NPD/Product development.

Relevant Experience

* Be educated to BSc level of equivalent within a Life Sciences subject such as BioChemistry, Molecular Biology or Genetics.

* Come from a strong IVD/In Vitro background, with a solid understanding around assay development and integration.

* Supervisory/management experience is essential, along with the ability to motivate, coach and mentor your team.

* Expertise within method development and validation of molecular diagnostic assays along with an understanding of the regulatory standards required to release the product to market.

* Strong communication skills, both verbally and written. Able to summarise complex scientific data to ensure projects/idea can flow throughout the company.
