HawkinsBrown are a progressive, award-winning studio, and one of the leading design-based architectural practices in the UK. We’re looking for someone with a passion for detail to join our Business Support team as an Accounts Assistant.

The Business Support function is an integral part of our creative organisation. You’ll be a part of our in-house finance team: a friendly group of four who work collaboratively across the practice. It’s a creative environment where everyone’s encouraged to throw their ideas into the mix, and importantly, make it happen.

The main purpose of the role is to support the day to day finance operations and assist the practice in achieving its business objectives.

We can also consider part-time working for the right candidate too.

Core functions

  • Processing Purchase Ledger invoices
  • Obtaining authorisation from the appropriate person for all purchase invoices and preparing these for payment
  • Reconciliation of the credit card account
  • Processing staff expenses and ensuring that they are approved by the line managers in timely manner
  • Checking expenses against receipts to ensure they are accurately recorded and the supporting documentation is adequate (VAT receipts)
  • Ensuring expenses comply with policy and raise any queries with Head of Finance in timely manner
  • Ensuring that employees are up to date with timesheet submissions and chasing where necessary
  • Completing ad hoc tasks requested by the finance team

Skills and experience required

  • Good skills in Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to use own initiative
  • Practical and logical approach to work
  • Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders of the business
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent team member who is willing to take a hands-on approach
  • Ability to deal with matters sensitively and confidentially
  • Flexibility in approach to work
