The Role
Working with fellow team members and other senior and executive managers within DCC, the Market Strategist will create insight and information to enable the identification of potential markets and product offerings which DCC should prioritise.
Through their knowledge of the energy system, DCC’s capabilities and the application of appropriate methods and tools, the Market Strategist will identify markets where DCC has the potential to launch relevant products and services.
They will work with others to spot specific opportunities and shape propositions to address the market needs.
The Market Strategist will be a communicator, able to present externally and so build support amongst DCC’s customers and stakeholders, but also to support internal decisionmaking and governance processes.
This role will also work closely with a range of colleagues, across strategy, product management, CTO and policy development.
They will also work alongside a Market Analyst, providing guidance and direction as appropriate, to develop more quantitative analysis, such as market sizing, but also contribute to the development of business cases and revenue forecasts.
Through the effective delivery of this role, through identifying opportunities for DCC to add value, we anticipate that our reputation as a serious longterm participant in the energy system will be enhanced, thus opening up the prospect of developing opportunities in sectors other than energy.
Key Accountabilities
Experienced in strategic analysis to identify potential markets and opportunities for growth within those Experienced in developing strategies for the entry into markets Capable of deploying relevant methods and tools which can be embedded within DCC’s processes Capable of understanding the potential within the DCC network and how this might be applied to meet customer requirements Oversight of analytical activity in support of strategy development Capable of contributing to highquality documentation and presentation materials, including customer and stakeholder engagement, internal governance documents and responses to consultations.
Development of business cases outline and detailed in support of market entry strategies, product launches etc.
Working with communications colleagues to demonstrate thoughtleadership in areas of significance to DCC.
Skills and Experiences Essential
Extensive experience of analysing market potential, developing strategies for entry into markets and identifying opportunities for the introduction of products and services.
Able to understand the capabilities of a highly complex IT/telecoms infrastructure and apply these to realworld problems Excellent stakeholder engagement skills to understand markets of potential interest and build support for a role for DCC within them Good verbal and written communication skills – comfortable in delivering presentations up to and including Board level Highly collaborative style – able to interact with colleagues at all levels, across the organisation Wellorganised – able to manage a number of tasks in parallel, whilst ensuring that these are completed to time and quality A selfstarter persistent and resilient Skills and Experiences Desirable
Knowledge of the energy market and current developments therein.
