Do you want to support the development of an adaptable and resilient food, farming and countryside sector in Scotland, joining a national, networked organisation, focussed on helping to make change happen?The Food, Farming and Countryside Commission works acoss the UK through a network of national and local teams.
Our placebased inquiries comprise three inquiries in England in Cumbria, Devon and Cambridgeshire and one each in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
In Scotland, we have been engaging with partners and stakeholders to convene collective leadership around important issues, and to identify priorities for our work.
From these, we have developed four areas of focus
SEFARI Gateway Fellowship on agroecological principles in Scotland Working with partners and active food poverty initiatives in Glasgow to support the brokering of links between the city of Glasgow and its surrounding rural communities and agroecological producers, with the aim of increasing access to healthy, agroecologically grown food Highlighting case studies of ownership and decision making around land, particularly those that make connections between agriculture and the environment, and sharing learning from Scotland to support and inform UKwide work on a Land Use Framework Exploring the role of digital tools and platforms as enablers for agriculture and food production, to understand how producers operating with agroecological principles can be connected to marketsThis role will suit you if you have
Actionorientated and outcomefocused leadership skills, with a track record of effective project delivery across one or more of our key themes.
Significant and varied experience in public policy research development, with a mature understanding of the complex policy landscape across the breadth of our mandate.
Specialist expertise and interest in one or more of our key themes
food and farming, sustainable development, land use, economics, local democracy and system change, and in wider public policy and reform.
A shared sense of purpose for our mission, with commitment to finding practical solutions to the climate, nature, health and economic crises.
