A world class manufacturing site, with an investment of over £50 million in advanced manufacturing machinery, including Robotic Welders, Automated Fibre Laser Profiling, Vertical Turning Centres, Turret Punching Machines, CNC Press Brakes.

SALARY: £35,000 – £40,000

10pm – 6am | Monday to Friday

We are looking for a highly driven and motivated Night Shift Leader to join our business and support our world class manufacturing operations. As a Night Shift Leader, you will be responsible for managing employees and efficiently delivering product excellence by effective implementation of people management skills whist contributing to our overall company growth.

This is a key role reporting to the Production Managers with full operational responsibility for the team and the site performance on the night shift. During the night shift you will be the most senior person on site and must manage the shift to achieve delivery of right first-time product, on time to meet production planning schedules. You will take lead responsibility for managing shift activity focused on achieving production and people targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing Team Leaders and Supervision of the shift of up to 60+ employees
  • Delivering product excellence by the vigilant management of your team, materials and equipment
  • Maintaining site and Company HR policies and procedures including T&A and managing shift disciplinary issues
  • Maintaining site and Company Health & Safety Standards and policies
  • Communicating to the Production Managers on night shift performance and escalation of any shift or site issues
  • Generating and maintaining records such as standard ops, training documentation and risk assessments
  • Leading by example and continuously set the standards for your team
  • Achieving production targets and KPI’s
  • Driving the continuous improvement activities within the team 
  • Controlling shift manpower planning and training
  • Demonstrates a structured approach to solving problems – a focus on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing

Key Requirements:

  • Proven track record of leading a team
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Experience of delivering effective people management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Demonstrates a structured approach to solving problems – a focus on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
  • Time management and organisational skills
  • Manufacturing industry experience (desirable)
  • Basic IT use is required
